Wang Bon

Wang bon resevoir in addtion to be a great training site is also the exit from the Than Rattana Waterfall decent.

The exit of the waterfall into the lake can be seen left of centre, the route descends down the valley that can be seen on the right.

The entire route is around 1.5 km and can be accessed from inside the National Park just off the crossing road.

The route has 4 abseils, the highest being in the region of 50m+

The whole canyon can be seen on google earth at a relatively good resolution. As a side project we will be adding some tagged images of the region to the newly enhanced google earth images of the area.

We recently paddled across and surveyed the route from the bottom up to the foot of the main abseil checking for egress routes and doing our normal survey stuff for students groups.

We will be returning with Ben the ropes guru in a couple of weeks to access anchor placement and SOP for the entire decent.

Images to follow then :)
